Rs 10 lakh each for Everest summitters

Imphal, May 20 2013:
Government of Manipur has decided to award Rs 10 lakh each to the three climbers from the State who scaled the summit of Mount Everest.
The decision to this effect was taken during a State Cabinet meeting this evening.
Apart from the three Mt Everest summitters, the Cabinet also decided to give Rs 10 lakh to their team leader Dr L Surjit and Rs 1 lakh each to three other Manipuri climbers in the team who could not reach the summit.
Furthermore, the State Cabinet would be hosting a state level reception programme for all the Everesters from Manipur when they return to Imphal.
Today's Cabinet meeting has also approved appointment of one Executive Officer each in all the municipal councils of Thoubal, Moirang, Imphal, Nambol and Kakching.
Accordingly, the procedure for appointment of Executive Officers would be entrusted to Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) .
