Maram's Go Green Mission launched

The Maram Students Union (MSU) has launched its "Go Green Mission iii" with the plantation of trees in a formal function held at Senapati public ground today.
The campaign, which was held as part of the Vanamahotsava, has been going on for the last three years.
As part of the campaign trees are to be planted in huge numbers in school campuses and road sides.
The Go Green Mission of the students union through this year's plantation stresses on the vital role of how one's action is required to combat climate change and global warming.
The function was graced by Senapati DC, PK Jha as chief guest.
Speaking on the function Jha said that we should understand the harm cutting down of trees does to the environment and urged upon the people to plant more trees to save the environment.
He further went on to say that the government on its part should come up with specific means to preserve the environment and we all should give a helping hand in the process.
Speaking on the occasion, President of Maram Students Union, Pungdi P Celestine said that the Union has been celebrating the go green mission for the last three years.
The students union along with the people started planting trees in different parts of Maram from today and will continue for three more days.
District Forest Officer of Senapati District, Kh Ibohal said that the forest department is trying its best to save forests.
In the process the participation of the people is required.
The department has arranged about 1 lakh tree saplings for Senapati Forest Division for this year.
The educational institutions of the districts to be covered during the campaign are Rangtaiba memorial institute, PP Christian English High School,Don Bosco School, Mount Carmel Academy, Saklim Christian English High School, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Senapati.
President of Maram Women's Union, Vina Lucy, Asst Commissioner, Shyam Lal and President, Maram Union, RK Petre attended the function as presidium members.
