Dr RK Ranjan kicks off Block Health Mela at Heingang

Imphal, April 18 2022:
Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Education Dr RK Ranjan inaugurated the Block Health Mela for Imphal East today at Heingang Mayai Leikai Laibung.
The block health mela was organised by Imphal East District Health Society under the 100 Days Action Plan and is a part of 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr RK Ranjan appreciated the availability of generic medicine at the health mela free of cost.
"This block health mela organised under the 100 Days Action Plan of the State Govt is a testament of good governance and the healthy relation between the Government and people of the State", he said.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Lourembam Indira, CMO Imphal East, said that Imphal East District Health Society will organise block health melas in all four blocks of Imphal East.
Subsequent block melas will be organised on April 20 and 21 for Imphal East- 1 CD block and Imphal East- 2 CD Block at Irabot Park, Lamlai and Kiyamgei Awang Community Hall respectively.
Preparations are also underway to conduct a block health mela at Ningomthongjao Community Hall for Kshetrigao block, she added.
The CMO further said that new initiatives had been added to the block health mela aside from the routine programs which include eye OPD, cataract screening and creation of health ID under the Chief Minister's 'Health For All' program on top of the routine programs under general medicine, surgery, paediatrics etc.
Beyond this, she said that under Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan, maternal health staff were also available for free antenatal check up, detection of high risk pregnancy and ultrasound facilities.
She urged the people to avail the services provided in the health mela to foster a healthy society.
The event was also attended by Diana Khumukcham, DC Imphal East, K Jayanta, Pradhan, Heingang GP among others as presidium members.
It may be noted that as part of the block health mela, 30 stalls were opened and provided various health facilities.
