Governor Najma Heptulla, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and others have greeted the people on Yaoshang today.
Expressing that the festival has become a sports movement, the Governor in the message said "Let us all celebrate Yaoshang in its true spirit with the participation of all communities and resolve to make Manipur a better and peaceful State where mutual respect and love prevail among all communities".
Following the Governor, Chief Minister N Biren Singh also sent his greetings to the people.
"Although, playing with colours, Thabal Chongba and cultural performances are important components of Yaoshang, the festival has evolved into an occasion for promoting sports and social participation over the years.
As such, it also underscores the spirit of undivided excellence, camaraderie and social harmony as well," said N Biren wishing the people a joyous Yaoshang in his message.
Works Minister Th Biswajit too wished the people a joyous Yaoshang and said the festival symbolises rejuvenation of the spirit of life.
May the festival bring peace, prosperity and progress for all, he said.
Forest and Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar extended his greetings to the people and wished for good health, happiness, prosperity and harmony in the State.
"The festival of colours which is celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm makes us forget our differences and spreads the message of love, friendship, brotherhood and harmony cutting across all the barriers," said the Minister.
Meanwhile, Ex-Chief Minister and CLP leader O Ibobi also sent his wishes to the people on Yaoshang with a prayer for peace and harmony to prevail in the State.
Ex-Deputy CM Gaikhangam too greeted the people and wished for more stronger relation and bond of friendship and brotherhood among the different communities.
MPCC president M Okendro also sent his wishes for a joyous and peaceful Yaoshang.
