Interactive session on COVID-19 held

Ethno-Heritage Council (HERICOUN) Manipur, organised a one day interactive session on novel coronavirus, at Govt Dance College Hall, Palace Compound today.
The session was graced by Additional Director of Manipur Health Services Dr P Shyamsunder Singh, RIMS Medical Superintendent Professor Ch Arunkumar Singh, JNIMS Medical Superintendent Professor T Rajen Singh and president of HERICOUN Longjam Ratankumar as the presidium members.
RIMS Department of Medicine Professor Ksh Birendra Singh, VRV Nodal Officer of JNIMS Dr RK Manojkumar and NHN epidermiologist Dr M Bharati spoke as resource persons during the interactive session.
Speaking at the function, Professor Ch Arunkumar said that Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Ministry of Health, India, have approved a Covid-19 testing centre for Manipur at JNIMS and a sample collection centre at RIMS.
Samples will be collected from patients at RIMS and then sent to JNIMS for necessary testing.
This will cut down the time needed to get the test results, he added.
Reminding that the virus transmits via coughing and sneezing, he recommended all to maintain a distance from anyone who is showing symptoms of flu and cold.
Maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet while talking, practising good hygiene like properly washing hands, using masks and hand sanitisers are highly recommended, he added.
