Imphal, June 02 2015 :
Though the results of the ADC elections will be announced from June 10 onwards the political roadmap is fairly discernible now.
The Manipur unit president of the Naga People's Front Awangbou Newmai told reporters on Tuesday that his party may join hands with non-Congress parties in a bid to form Councils in the six ADCs.
He also exuded confidence that his party may win working majority in at least four ADCs.
He decried the inadequate security arrangement for the polling stations, polling personnel with the result that there was wide spread violence in the ADC elections.
He said that some VDF and a small number of armed personnel could not ensure law and order within and without the polling booths.
The ballot papers and boxes were snatched and ink poured into the ballot boxes although all booths are supposed to be well guarded.
While polling personnel could not reach their destinations in six stations in Churachandpur district personnel in other areas had to cover long distances on foot since there was not adequate transportation for them.
In Takao village in Tamenglong district the polling personnel and the armed guards were waiting for the vehicles after the polls which would take them to the district headquarters.
But some persons materialised there and snatched the ballot boxes.
There was no resistance from the armed guards.
Till date these ballot boxes cannot be traced out.
In Chandel district some miscreants beat up the district president of the NPF Mono Anal and police and armed personnel deployed there were mute spectators.
In view of such lapses on the part of the government repolls are likely in many polling stations, he added.
He also swiped at the ruling Congress.
He said that this party could not launch election campaign at many places.
And yet the party is claiming that it will win most of the seats and it is nothing but self deception.
As a government it had failed to maintain law and order.
From the way some armed paramilitary and VDF personnel were deployed despite threat perceptions it is clear that the government had a cavalier attitude on such an imprtant and sensitive issues.
