Maharaja Bodhachandra College Teachers' Association (MBCTA) has strongly condemned the incident of physical assault of Dr Hanjabam Khukhdeba Sharma, who is an Assistant Professor of Social Work in IGNTU-RCM, Imphal by Prof Moirangthem Mani, who is the Director of UGC-Academic Staff College of Manipur University on October 10 at UGC-ASC, Manipur University.
In a statement, MBCTA Secretary N Kisorchand Singh maintained that as a responsible teacher and respecting his position as a Director Prof Mani should have intervened in a responsible manner.
His violent action is against the ethical norms set by the University Grants Commission.
As such incident could happen to any other teacher, the authority concerned must take every precaution to prevent recurrence of similar incident in the future, Kisorchand said, while informing that an appeal has been sent to Vice Chancellor of Manipur University for a judicious investigation into the incident so as to deliver justice to Dr Hanjabam Shukhdeba.
He also announced that MBCTA would extents its unfailing support and solidarity to Dr Hanjabam Shukhdeba.
