GOC lays foundation stone for Church

Imphal, December 27 2011:
Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, GOC 57 Mountain Division laid the foundation stone for construction of New Church Complex at Mayangkhang village under Senapati District on Monday.
RK Luikang, Chairman Mayangkhang village warmly welcomed Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, Brig AK Narula, Commander 59 Mountain Brigade, Col Swarn Singh, Commandant 43 Assam Rifles and other guests who attended the occasion, stated a press release of PIB (DW) .
The occasion was marked by a colourful choreography presented by members of local women society and school children of Sunday school.
Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen while addressing the locals exhorts the need for co-operation among the locals and security forces for peace and development in the area.
He also said that Army and Assam Rifles will continue with their efforts to bring peace in the region and will always support such endeavours for the betterment of the people, it added.
Meanwhile, GOC 57 Mountain Division, Major General Binoy Poonnen in a function organised by the 5 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 59 Mountain Brigade of the Red Shield Division presented two computers with computer tables and chairs along with musical equipment to RK Orphanage, Natzang Colony, Senapati and two solar street lights and two hand held solar lights to Emmisiphro Village, Senapati.
Speaking on the occasion the GOC emphasized upon the need for taking up community development projects and lauded the efforts of the local community in assisting in incorporation and execution of these projects.
Commander 59 Mountain Brigade, Brigadier A K Narula, Army and AR officials along with villagers from Emmisiphro and children and staff of R K Orphanage attended the occasion.
Major General Binoy Poonnen reiterated that the Red Shield Division is committed in aiding the development of remote villages and urged the local communities to collectively assist in the development process.
