New UBI branch inaugurated

A new branch of the United Bank of India (UBI) has been inaugurated today at Broadway Complex, Senapati.
RD&PR, Economics & Statistics Minister Francis Ngajokpa, and Senapati DC Jacintha Lazarus attended the inaugural function as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Francis Ngajokpa underscored the importance of banks and banking services in the backdrop of the sweeping information technology revolution.
Francis Ngajokpa stated that money deposited in banks do not belong to the bankers but to the depositors.
Kidnappings, intimidation and harassment of bankers would not have any positive effect said the Minister while cautioning that it would be treated as a very serious crime if any harm is done either to banks or bankers or bank management .
He also advocated grooming a healthy habit of thrift and saving money.
Jacintha Lazarus asserted that opening more bank branches in the district is a sign of development.
She continued that people should understand banks are the most important tool for socio-economic alleviation.
Apart from the new UBI branch inaugurated today, four bank branches have already been operating in Senapati district headquarters.
Superintendent of Police, Senapati K Kabib, Nilamani Jena, AGM, UBI, I Pradeep Kumar, Chief Manager, UBI Link Office, Imphal, Dr Loli Mao, CMO Senapati and YK Yangding, president, Senapati District Senior Citizens Association, many student and CSO leaders were also present at the inaugural function.
