RIMS to organise free Gall Bladder keyhole surgery camp on Aug 10 & 11

People who have been unable to undergo gall bladder keyhole surgery due to large number of such patients at RIMS, will finally be able to do so through a free keyhole surgery camp which will be organised at RIMS on August 10 and 11, starting from 8 am.
The event, termed Gall Bladder Week, will feature 6 surgery teams, will give more emphasis to the patients who have already been registered for key hole surgery but the newly registered patients will also be analysed based on their condition so as to decide whether to perform the surgery or not.
Speaking to media persons at RIMS yesterday, Director, Professor A Santa said that RIMS already has a large number of patients registered for keyhole surgery which has made it impossible to perform all the needed surgeries.
In view of the welfare of the patients, RIMS surgeons will organise a workshop as well as conduct free keyhole surgeries on August 10 and 11 even of they are holidays, he added.
6 surgery teams will use 5 tools (including 2 tools which reached RIMS recently) to perform the key hole surgeries on the patients at free of costs.
He continued that a similar free keyhole surgery event will also be conducted on the last week of August.
On the other hand, Centre of Excellence (CoE), RIMS, in collaboration with UW-ITECH and Manipur SACS, conducted a programme on 'CME on Recent NACO ART Technical Guidelines' yesterday at RIMS mini auditorium.
RIMS Director as well as Steering Committee (CoE, ART Centre, RIMS) Chairman, Professor A Santa, Manipur SACS Project Director A Radhabinod Sharma, RIMS Medical Superintendent Professor Ch Arunkumar Singh, UW-ITECH Dr Anwar Pravez and Public Health Specialist, CDC Dr Reshu Agarwal attended the event as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the event, A Santa said that RIMS ART Centre is one of the 11 ART Centre of Excellence in the country and stressed on the importance of forming an appropriate drug policy to combat HIV/AIDS problem.
Speaking at the event, Radhabinod said that it i imperative for all the RIMS doctor as well as other professionals to strive for further and additional knowledge.
If the new ART guidelines of NACO are not adhered to by the doctors, HIV/AIDS treatment in the State will not be complete.
