People of Rilram have urged the State Government and department concerned to remove the wires installed for electrification if they cannot get regular power supply by 2021.Rilram Centre is a village in Tengnoupal district of Manipur, bordering Myanmar.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Narum Khul, one M Kulla who is a member of Saibol Village Authority stated that despite the famous line hills and valley people are one, many shortcomings are troubling the people of hill districts even today and deprivation from access to electricity is one among many.
Claiming that electric wires and transformer were installed at Rilram some 25 years back but the village is yet to get regular power supply till date, he added that neighbouring villages of Rilram also get a power supply for only a few days during the time of Christmas.
"As the neighbouring villages in Myanmar are illuminated well at night, sometimes we wish to be a part of the neighbouring country," he added.
He then urged the State Government to look into the matter and do the needful at the earliest.
Chief of Yongkhung village, Simyon stated that Rs 500 each is deducted from the denizens of Rilram who work in the Government departments as no due certificate is required to receive honorarium.
This amount should be refunded as the villages are not yet electrified properly, he added.
