The One Stop Centre Kangpokpi observed its first anniversary today at the conference hall of DC Office, Kangpokpi.
The central scheme OSC Kangpokpi was inaugurated on November 20 last year by the then Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen to fight against any forms of violence against women in the district.
Addl Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi, Lalramsang Infimate graced the occasion as chief guest on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi while the guest of honour, Superintendent of Police Kangpokpi, PG Singsit visited the OSC Kangpokpi and meet the staff there.
He skipped the function owing to unavoidable official work.
Members of Kangpokpi Town Committee, Child Welfare Committee Kangpokpi leaders led by its president S Kipgen, Child Line Kangpokpi leaders, officials of the District Social Welfare Department also attended the function.
The dignitaries and participants also observed a minute silence to pay respect to Helam Haokip, the Central Administrator of OSC Kangpokpi who died recently.
At the programme, Addl Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi emphasized on how to utilize customary law when it comes to violence and crime against women.
Saying mat customary laws sometimes become a bottleneck in delivering justice when it comes to women issues especially in violence and crimes, he added that One Stop Centre is one platform where all can work together to bring justice to the society especially to the womenfolk.
He also said that Kangpokpi District is advancing in empowering its women and also in various other sectors compared to others.
The Addl DC also sought ideas and suggestions to run the OSC, CWC and Child Line of the districts more effectively.
According to Lhingneihoi Haokip, Case Worker OSC Kangpokpi, twelve cases including domestic violence, rape case, missing case and a dowry case were registered at OSC Kangpokpi from November 20, 2019 to November 20, 2020.All the cases have been solved and there are no pending cases, Lhingneihoi added.
The Case Worker of OSC Kangpokpi, Lhingneihoi Haokip further said that there are only two regular staff now at OSC Kangpokpi and drew the attention of the concerned authority to look into the matter.
She also sought maximum cooperation and support from the concerned authority, CWC, Child Line and civil bodies.
Sharing of ideas, inputs, suggestions and discussing on various issues especially women welfare, etc marked the occasion.
