Seminar on contemporary issues held in Tamenglong

The All Manipur Christian Organizations, AMCO'S today organized a one day seminar on contemporary issues at Town Baptist Church, TBC conference hall, Tamenglong with the aim to fight corruption in the state.
Rev Prim Vaiphai, President, AMCO, urged all Reverends, Pastors, Deacons, Catechists, priests, nuns, social leaders, to seriously consider corruption issues and that the church should respond.
Pastors and Deacons should take action when church members are involved in corruption.
The Reverend asked should pastors remain silent when during election church members are involved in booth capturing, or force people to cast votes for particular person.
He said, it is time to open one's eyes and that elections should be conducted in the correct way.
On the election manual and election watch, Dr Leban Serto explained the pastors' manual book printed by AMCO.
As many as 245 participants including Pastors, Deacons, Assistant Pastors and social leaders attended the seminar.
Rev Guingopou President Town Church Union Tamenglong expressed his sincere thanks on behalf of Tamenglong for organizing the seminar at the district HQs.
Discussion also took place on how action could be taken to follow the election code of conduct, to avoid proxy voting, booth capturing and prevent violence during elections, to lessen money and energy both of the candidate and also to reduce enmity between the rivals.
The seminar also endorsed to appeal to all government employees to attend office and schools regularly as they are nation builders.
It also appealed to all 'national workers' that they maintain unity, peace and progress of the people to avoid meddlings in elections.
The pastors and preachers are also requested to create awareness in their congregations on the rules of election, work ethics, integrity and dignity of labour etc.
While electing candidates people should chose those candidates who are God fearing, upright and with dignity, not given to practicing corruption, who have concern for social justice, dignity of the people's welfare, and who have love, care, dedication for their services.
