Imphal, June 18 2012:
It is a pity for some Naga Organisations, which go to Delhi again and again to disintegrate the territory of Manipur with the dream of a separate territory for the Nagas, KT Rahman, President of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) has stated.
He was speaking during the 11th Unity Day observance function at THAU Ground, Thangmeiband here today.
KT Rahman said that the message left by the 18 'martyrs' that 'unity is the only way that the people of the state has' has become more relevant today.
Some communal Naga organisations and NSCN (IM), which has fallen prey to the Indian diplomacy, have been trying to disintegrate the territorial integrity of Manipur for a Supra State body or Greater Nagaland under the mask of Cease Fire Agreement.
However, they should know that they will never succeed in disintegrating the boundary of the state.
He pointed out that Zeliangrong community has now begun to raise their voice against United Naga Council (UNC) for its undemocratic nature and communal activities.
While it is a major blow to the process of creating a Greater Nagaland or Supra State Body, it is the right step for the Zeliangrong community to realise the motive of the UNC and raise voice against it.
At the same time, the numbers of Naga UG organizations, which do not agree with the policy of NSCN (IM) has been increasing day by day.
Stating that call for unity is not only for the Meeteis or Nagas or Kukis or Pangals but peaceful coexistence of all the different groups of people living in Manipur, KT Rahman reiterated that what AMUCO craves for is the peaceful coexistence among the different communities of the state and AMUCO would do anything to bring the different communities together.
He contended that the demand for a separate Kukiland is not in the interest of the whole Kuki community but for some organizations only.
Likewise, the demand for a Greater Nagaland is not in the interest of the whole Naga community but only for some organisations with vested interest.
Social Activist Dhanabir Laishram observed that the present issue haunting the mind of the people is not a social issue but a political and economy issue.
No organisations, whether it be UNC or any other Kuki organisations, cannot disintegrate the territory of Manipur and other states of North East.
For the past 40 years, NSCN (IM) has been trying to disintegrate Manipur without any success.
Uniting the hearts of the people of different communities is the only key to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur.
