Farmers' schemes to be reviewed

The Kishan Khet Majdoor Congress will be taking stocks of the implementation of various schemes for farmers in the state, said L Suraj NE Coordinator of the Congress today.
Suraj said that it is very important on the part of the state governments to implement the schemes properly in their respective states so that farmers get the maximum benefits of the schemes.
He said that farmers should be made aware of the new technologies with which they can enhance their productivity in the field of agriculture.
With more than 80 percent of the total population engaging in agricultural works, Manipur is a right place to set up agro based industries.
State convener Lien Gangte who also attended the press meet said that the union will enquire the proper implementation of the various schemes for agriculture and press concerned ministers to check if their were any irregularities while implementing the schemes and make it transparent.
It will also be pressing the state government to take up many initiatives for the welfare of the farmers and provide well equipped transportation and adequate market facilities to make the agricultural products profitable which will indirectly give a boost in the economy of the state, he said.
