IED found in scooter inside hostel complex

An improvised explosive device (IED) has been recovered today from a stationary scooter inside a boys hostel complex located in Sangakpham.
According to a police report, the bomb weighing about 3.5-4 kgs was found inside the tool box of the scooter parked inside the compound of Boarding Educational Career Society (boys hostel) .
With the exception of numerical figures 09/0625, preceding alphabets were found missing.
Local eyewitnesses claimed that the scooter had been parked at the said site for over 15 days in addition to revealing that the hostel cook namely Songboi Zou from Tuining village of Churachandpur staked claim to the scooter after his hand-cart went missing, apparently stolen.
The improvised explosive device (IED) was reportedly discovered by some hostellers who took a ride but had to open the tool box after the scooter developed technical snag.
A mobile phone handset (Lemon) and wires fixed to a tiffin box-like container were found inside the tool box, said the witnesses who informed of conveying the discovery to the police.
A Manipur police bomb disposal squad upon realising that it was a remote-controlled bomb (IED) safely removed the explosive item tonight for disposal tomorrow.
It is informed that the hostel is run by one Bidya and the land owned by one Christopher Daimei (65) .
Motive of who or why the improvised explosive device (IED) was placed there could not be contemplated.
