KSO Sadar Hills urges State Government to find accused of hit & run case

In a hit and run case, a fully loaded truck reportedly vanished from the scene after hitting a caterer from Kangpokpi district headquarters on February 2.The man who has now been admitted to Advanced Hospital, Imphal used to deliver food to doctors, nurses and security personnel on duty at BIET Covid Care Centre.
Thangtinlen Haokip, general secretary KSO Sadar Hills said that the unfortunate incident happened on February 2 morning when the victim Kamlengou Chongloi as usual went to deliver food for the doctors, nurses and security personnel at BIET Covid Care Centre in Leikop.
Quoting an eyewitness, the student leader said that a loaded truck heading towards Imphal hit the two wheeler vehicle of the victim.
Immediately the locals instead of chasing the truck, rushed the injured man to the hospital, he added.
The victim after preliminary medical treatment was referred to Imphal for further investigation and treatment, where he was admitted at Advanced Speciality Hospital and Research Institute, Imphal.
He is now at the High-Dependency Unit of the hospital.
The victim's brother, Boichon Chongloi stated that they are worried about the hospital and medical expenses as they are from an economically weak family.
He mentioned that his brother is a daily wager and sole bread earner in the family and added that he took the responsibility of catering to the doctors, nurses and security personnel on duty at the BIET Covid Care Centre, Leikop as the hotel he worked in took catering services for the centre.
KSO Sadar Hills expressed its anguish over the inappropriate and inhumane attitude of the accused truck driver and urged the accused to surrender at the earliest so as to avoid misunderstanding and other forms of agitation including blockade of all loaded trucks along National Highway-2 .
Meanwhile, the student body also appealed to the State Government and district police to find the accused at the earliest and also to look into the hardships and grievances of the victim and his family.
