Kangpokpi, February 04 2021:
The Thadou Students' Association Joint Headquarters Sadar Hills informed that it will go ahead with its proposed bandh on passenger buses of Kangpokpi district from February 5 in connection with the unjustified fare hike by passenger buses of Kangpokpi plying along NH- 2.TYA Joint Headquarters Sadar Hills had earlier appealed to the bus association to reduce the bus fare in pursuant of an order issued by the Directorate of Transport on February 1, 2021 urging the immediate reduction of public transport fares to normal rates.
TYA alleged that the DC Kangpokpi and the bus association had failed to respond positively to their plea.
"Therefore, we have decided to impose a bandh on public transport (passenger buses) at Kangpokpi for not implementing the order of the Directorate of Transport in connection with reduction of fares," it added.
TYA Joint Headquarters Sadar Hills further urged the various civil society organizations of the district to lend support and cooperation in its movement until the order of the Directorate of Transport is implemented accordingly in the district.
