College teachers resolve to boycott exam

Claiming that the Government has failed to respond positively to their demands, All Manipur College Teachers Association (AMCTA) has decided to boycott college examinations commencing tomorrow.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, AMCTA president M Lokendro said that a team of AMCTA representatives met Education Minister M Okendro to discuss their demands yesterday.
During the meeting, the teachers requested the Minister to give a positive response by 12 pm today, Lokendro said and added that however the Government has not given any response till 3 pm today.
As such, they are compelled to boycott the examinations of BA, BSc and BCom 1st and 5th Semesters commencing tomorrow in 25 colleges, he added.
Among others, teachers' demands included cancellation of Government orders issued on November 14 last regarding appointment of regular Principals, removal of incumbent Higher Education Commissioner P Vaiphei and immediate release of due allowances.
