Fumed at the alleged failure of the government to meet its long pending demands, the All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) has boycotted first, third and fifth semester examination of BA, B Sc and B Com conducted by Manipur University to be started from December 4 .
Announcing the call during a press meet at Manipur Press Club here today, M Lokendro, president of AMCTA said that the association has been launching different forms of protest demanding the government to meet its long pending demands including revocation of appointment order of three regular principals; resignation of P Vaiphei, Commissioner of Higher Education and appointment of regular principal in every government college by issuing new office memorandum/notification on the basis of Career Advancement Scheme (CAS), recruitment rules and service conditions.
The association held a meeting with Education Minister, M Okendro in connection with its demands yesterday.
However, the meeting failed to reach an understanding on the matter between the both sides, he disclosed.
Maintaining that the association demanded the Education Minister to issue an order for removal of P Vaiphei from Higher Education Department within 12 pm of today during the meeting; the president of AMCTA stated that the association was compelled to come up with the boycott call as the government has utterly failed to put into action the demand put up by it during the meeting.
