College teachers, Govt come to agreement: Dy Secy Y Dimbajit

The State Government and All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) have come to an understanding following a meeting convened at the office chamber of Education Minister yesterday.
According to a press release issued by Deputy Secretary (Higher &Technical Education) Y Dimbajit, a meeting between the officials of State Government and representatives of AMCTA was held at the office chamber of Education Minister from 2.30 pm till 6pm yesterday.
Both parties came to an understanding after a detailed discussion on various issues.
As per the agreement, the State Government has entrusted the responsibility of conducting BA semester examination for Oriental College to the earlier i/c Principal, namely Th Biren with immediate effect as the newly appointed regular Principal has not joined till date.
The Government also agreed to entrust the responsibility of conducting BA semester examination for Manipur College and Lilong Haoreibi College to the respective earlier i/c Principals, namely Kh Jayanta and K Kunjani .
Further, the Director of Higher Education has been directed to look into the issues raised by AMCTA, including holding discussions, within a period of one month and submit a report to the Government for its consideration without fail.
According to the points of agreement, the Government has also decided to put on hold the process of appointment for the remaining 22 regular Principals till the issues of the college teachers are properly looked into.
Subsequent to the terms of understanding, AMCTA has categorically endorsed its support to proper process for regular appointment of Principals in all 28 government colleges of the State.
It was also agreed by AMCTA to take all necessary action to conduct BA semester examination in all government colleges, and render full support to Lilong Haoreibi College and Manipur College in conducting the BA examination.
