Imphal, September 01 2016:
Remarking that it was a dark day in the history of democracy in Manipur, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has asked as to why is a National political party, who is in power in the Centre resorting to bandh for publicity stunt and politicisation of an issue.
"Why can't one go through the legal process and file a petition in the appropriate forum for maintenance of status quo, if there is any anomaly in the recruitment proceedings being cancelled?, asked a press release issued by MPCC general secretary (admn) RK Imo.
If at all one has to resort to strikes and bandh, one may do so in the process of asking the Central Government the details of the hidden agenda of the NSCN-IM agreement signed by BJP Government.
It went on to ask, "Does any member of this political party know the details of the agreement?" .
People of Manipur will be happy if they do dharna and bandh for this.
"Why isn't BJP resorting to dharna for removal of AFSPA from Manipur and put pressure on your Central Government? And what about the Inner Line Permit Bill? Has this political party given in writing for any suggestions and improvement of the ILP? If so, then where is it?" ."Why isn't this National Political Party resorting to strikes and dharnas for implementing ILP and pressure the Central Government for accepting the Bill which was passed before and will be passed again by this Congress Government in Manipur? And now why this sudden change of mind to shorten the bandh? Finally, what did the National Political Party achieve with this bandh? Did it stop the recruitment process?", it questioned.
