Imphal, September 01 2016:
As 879 polling stations are located in the shadow
area of mobile phone networks, wireless sets would be used at
these stations as and when the State goes to poll to elect a new
Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Chief Electoral Officer VK Dewangan held a meeting with
mobile phone service providers operating in Manipur this
morning and the CEO was told that 879 polling stations are
located in the shadow area of mobile phone networks.
Nonetheless, polling process in all the 879 polling stations
would be videographed.
It was also considered to webcast the
polling process of the total 2704 polling stations.
Plans are also afoot to divide some polling stations which
have large number of voters and create 90 new polling sta-
tions.
The CEO held another meeting with representatives of
political parties and discussed about nomination of booth level
agents.
As suggested by the political parties, the meeting
agreed to hold similar meeting every fortnight in connection
with the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
Notably, a draft electoral roll of the State would be released
on September 7 .
