Village chiefs boycott ADC election

Following the failure to allot separate polling station for Longphailum village in Tamenglong district despite repeated appeals, chiefs of Longphailum village part I and II resolved to boycott the upcoming ADC election slated for June 1 .
In a joint statement, the chiefs of Lungphailum village part I and II said that villagers of Longphailum have been casting their votes at 24-Longpi polling station.
Villagers have been demanding a separate polling station for some years.
Protesting against the alleged negligence of the authority concerned, the Lok Sabha election in 2014 was also boycotted by the villagers.
Repeated appeals have failed to yield positive result.
Therefore, the villagers have resolved not to cast their votes.
The statement added that without the approval of Longphailum village part I and II chiefs, no villagers are allowed to cast their votes at 24-Longpi polling station on June 1 .
