People with vested interest behind breaching Khuga canal: Biren

Asserting that the breach of the left canal of the Khuga dam was caused by people with vested interests, IFCD minister, N Biren today informed the House adding that an FIR has been lodged to book the culprits.
He said that no work for supply of irrigation water from Khuga Dam has been officially launched.
The report of the breach of theleft canal of the dam has been investigated and it was found that it was done by people with vested interests intend to cause damage to the Project.
Biren further said that in the course of 27 years of construction of the dam, right from the beginning, hindrances were faced.
He was replying to a call attention motion moved by O Joy in the House today.
Earlier, O Joy of MPP drew the attention of the House expressing apprehension that the dam which was inaugurated only five months ago in November, 2010 would be a useless one.
He said that it is unfortunate that the report of the breached canal has come even before the benefits of the dam is to be enjoyed by the people.
Even though, the project had been inaugurated, it is yet to start generation of power.
Further there has been no irrigation of fields in the targeted areas.
There was an instance of another breached of the canal some time back.
Is it due to lack of quality control or due to technical error, he asked.
He also demanded the IFCD minister to table a written statement in the House.
