Imphal, May 15 2012:
The Zeliangrong Student's Union Delhi (ZSUD) and Zeliangrong Welfare Association Delhi (ZWAD) have urged the Government of Meghalaya to expedite the case regarding the alleged killing of a research scholar of NEHU, James Todiuwang on March 17 by setting up an independent judicial enquiry.
In a joint statement, ZSUD and ZWAD also urged the Government of Manipur to persuade its Meghalaya counterpart to take up the case seriously so that justice is delivered to the victim at the earliest and the recurrence of such incidents is prevented.
The joint statement maintained that although prima facie evidence showed clear sign of murder, it was reported that the victim died of road accident.
Alleging the Meghalaya Government and Meghalaya Police of being bias and inept, the statement maintained that the Meghalaya police has tainted its good image in front of the Zeliangrong Naga people while also praying for the intervention of the CM before the trust on them is further eroded.
