College students poised for intense stir

Students of 11 Government colleges have decided to launch various modes of intense agitation in case the first semester and fifth semester exams of BA/BSc/ BCom are affected because of the ongoing agitation of All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) .
The first and fifth semester exams being conducted by Manipur University are scheduled to commence from tomorrow.
Speaking to media persons at DESAM office, DM College of Commerce Students' Union general secretary Loktongbam Sanatomba urged the Government to give a convincing reply to the demands raised by AMCTA and work out a solution as a matter of urgency.
If the two sides cannot come to an understanding and in case the teachers go ahead with their decision of boycotting semester exams, the Government should be held Responsible for all the unwanted incidents resulting thereof.
Students' career cannot be put at stake Over the tussle between, teachers and the Government, Sanatomba said while appealing to.

College teachers staged a massive protest demonstration; on December 1 demanding appointment of regular Principals for all the 28 Government colleges, release of due SCA/TA.

Subsequent upon the protest demonstration, AMCTA also announced that they would boycott the semester exams which start tomorrow.
All the Government colleges are being administered without regular Principals, since the past three decades, AMCTA has also been alleging that three individuals were appointed as regular Principals secretively even as the appointees did not fulfil the eligibility criteria specified by UGC.
In case the semester exams are derailed because of the stand-off between college teachers and Government, strong and violent protest agitation would be launched all over the State, Sanatomba said on behalf of the students of the 11 Government colleges.
