SDSA members, Miss Barak 2018 visit orphan homes

Keeping up the theme of Barak festival "Sustaining peace and harmony", Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) and Miss Barak 2018 D Eloziia, visited the Maraoni orphans located at Viewland and Hope Home at Old Monday Market, Senapati on June 29.The beauty queen Eloziia took up the initiative to visit the orphan homes and interact with the children during her short holiday.
She also contributed some financial assistance to the two orphanage homes.
SDSA executives also contributed edible items for the orphans on the occasion.
Without any help or support from any individual or organization, former Poumai Baptist Church Senapati Pastor Graceson Marao started the Foundation for Maraoni Orphans and Upliftment for Destitute in 2015.At present, he is taking care of 47 orphans (all boys).
During interaction, he shared about the blessings he received in caring the orphans and providing them education.
He also shared the difficulty about sustaining the orphanage due to lack of financial support and Government recognition.
Considering the genuineness of the orphans foundation, K Hopeson, SDSA president assured to expedite the registration process and assist the orphans in providing education.
At the interaction, well-wishers also shared some ideas about small business that would help the orphans to get some financial.
At the Hope Home, the team interacted with Peter Rangnamei, proprietor and director of MANEDA and with the orphans.
The director spoke about the facilities available in the orphanage.
The inmates are taught weaving, tailoring and embroidery and other skill development trainings, Peter said.
He also pointed out the difficulties in providing the children education beyond Class VII.
Apart from Hope Home, he is also running Innocent Smile School for physically challenged children and an Open Shelter home for children (6-18 years)- a nightstay especially for children coming from far flung area during despair moments.
The governing body and director of MANEDA extended their gratitude to SDSA and Eloziia for making the maiden visit to the orphans and providing edible items and financial support.
