Imphal, June 16 2026:
Police resorted to firing tear gas shells and mock bombs near RIMS at about 9.30 pm today to disperse crowds which had gathered near the hospital after 'news' started doing the round that the three Kuki men who were admitted to the hospital yesterday continued to be under treatment there.
The three Kuki men were brought to RIMS for treatment under tight security arrangements by the Army from Leimakhong Army Hospital after they were injured in a clash near Konsakhul in Kangpokpi district yesterday.
Konsakhul is the place from where the six Naga men who were found butchered to death after being abducted by Kuki militants on May 13, hailed from.
As news of the three being admitted at RIMS did the round, a huge number of people drawn from both the Naga and Meitei communities had gathered at RIMS yesterday demanding to know if the admitted men were involved in the butchering of the six Naga men earlier.
Police had fired tear gas shells to keep the crowd under control.
