MLA talks developmental works in Wangoi AC

Manipur Infrastructure Development Agency (MIDA) Vice Chairman as well as MLA Oinam Lukhoi along with officials concerned, today, inspected the developmental activities which are presently underway at Wangoi Assembly Constituency under Imphal West district.
33x11KV power sub station in Iramsiphai, Imphal barrage project and cleaning the river bed of Imphal river at Mutum Phibou were some of the projects inspected by the vice chairman.
Speaking to media persons, MLA O Lukhoi said that, in order to relieve the apprehension faced by the farmers regarding the minimal amount of rainfall, which will affect the harvest, and in view of the rise in water level of Imphal river, water has been provided to paddy fields through the right side of the canal by blocking Imphal barrage.
The MLA went on to state that water pump sets will be distributed, under CM's directive through the Minor Irrigation Department, for those fields which the canal cannot reach.

He further stated that riverbed cleaning works are also taken up along Imphal riverbank under Wangoi AC while adding that almost a two kilometres long stretch is left to be completed in Mutum Phibou.
He expressed hope that this riverbed cleaning work will decrease the chances of flood this time.
The length of the river bank from the border between Wangoi AC and Langthabal AC upto Mayang Imphal AC, is around 12 kilometres.
Lukhoi conveyed that weak riverbanks will be bore piled so as to strengthen it adding that expansion and shingling work have also begun along the 12 km long riverbank under Central Roads Fund.
Considering the lack of tap water/drinking water for the past 25 years, a pipeline has been provided to Laiphrakpam from Wangoi water supply scheme.
Similar initiatives will be taken up for Chongtham Kona as well, added the MLA.
Almost 90 percent of the construction work of 33x11KV power sub-station in Iram Siphai has been completed, he claimed adding that the sub station is likely to be inaugurated within 20 days.
