Imphal, August 02 2019:
In what could be termed as a good news for ADC employees working since before 2006, Tribal Affairs & Hills (TA & H) Minister N Kayisii, today, announced that pension benefits will be made available to the said category of ADC employees.
The Minister also claimed that he is trying his level best to award pension benefits to Members of ADC, MDC and ex-ADC Members and MDC Members, while informing that he has already designed a memo in this regard to be submitted to the Government and tabled in a Cabinet meeting.
Speaking as the chief guest during the inauguration of a conference hall of TA & Hills as well as launching of Pension Cell at the Directorate of TA & Hills, Manipur, at Babupara today, Minister Kayisii asserted that the deprivation of pension benefits to the employees of District Councils since its inception in 1973, has hurt the feelings and sentiments of the ADC employees in particular and the tribal people in general.
This has also resulted in the widening of the rift between the people of the valley and the hills thereby instilling a sense of indifference among the people of the hills.
However, after the arrival of the BJP led Government in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren and following his (Kayisii) assumption of office as the TA & Hills Minister, the Government has been trying its best to solve the problem of deprivation of pension benefits to ADC employees.
Pointing out that there are still many poverty stricken people in the hills, specially in far flung corners of the State, he said that the State cannot be claimed as developed until these shortages have been eliminated.
He exuded confidence that the mortuary vans and ambulances which he launched today, will go a long way towards filling these shortages.
The Minister also claimed that the conference hall of the Directorate of TA & Hills will ease the Directorate's problem regarding lack of an appropriate place to hold functions or seminars.
Delivering the presidential speech at the function, Director TA & Hills, C Arthur Worchuiyo, expressed strong belief that the opening of the pension cell at the Directorate will meet the basic requirements of ADCs.
He further sought cooperation of all staff concerned towards ensuring smooth functioning of the pension cell.
TA & Hills Additional Chief Secretary, Letkhogin Haokip, who attended the function as guest of honour, urged the employees working in TA & Hills to work towards catering human services to the needy people of the hills.
He also asked the staff of TA & Hills as well as ADC employees to do the needful so that people of the hills can reap the benefits of Governmental schemes which focus on skill development like embroidery works and tailoring instead of asking only for GI sheets.
Minister Kayisii also launched a mobile dispensary van and ambulance for the tribal people.
