IE Super Divn League : KIYC edge past UPAA 3-1, PYA hold RAU

Imphal, August 02 2019: PYA, Kairang played out a goalless draw with RAU, Lairikyengbam Leikai and KIYC, Kshetri Awang Leikai edged past UPAA, Kyamgei 3-1 at ABA ground today in the ongoing Maharajkumar Ghanendrajit Memorial Super Division League organised under the aegis of Imphal East District Football Association.

In the 10th match of the tournament and today's first, RAU which beat YOSC 1-0 in the previous match failed to continued their momentum and were forced to share points with PYA which are yet to open up their winning account.

Although the game saw no goals being scored on both the ends, PYA's Liansomthang and Md Sabir were yellow carded in the 8th and the 43rd minute respectively.

RAU's Th Thomas and E Joykishan also had the same fate in the 6th and the 32nd minute respectively.

Elsewhere in the 11th match, KIYC Kshetri Awang Leikai buoyed by previous tie triumph looked confident and eventually surged home to a 3-1 win against UPAA as Somishon hit a double.

Somishon drew first blood in the 11th minute while his team mate K Jim banged in another in the 40th minute to hand KIYC a 2-0 lead till the break.

KIYC went on to search for more goals after the restart despite the huge lead and it did not hard for them to keep the UPAA defence busy.

After few exchanges, Somishon rose up for his second in the 59th minute and put his team 3-0 ahead of the rivals.

UPAA which were kept under pressure for a good portion of time however managed to hold their back firm and deter further incisive runs by their rivals in the latter part before grabbing a consolation lately in the 86th minute through Sona.

UPAA's Y Bikash and Sanjoy received yellow cards in the 50th and the 88th minute respectively while John and Md Imdaad got the same in the 74th and the 82nd minute respectively.

YOSC will play SAK in the next match on August 4 at 1 pm at ABA Ground, Kshetrigao.

XI Star SU will latter meet KIYC at 3 pm in another match.
