Joint Committee vows to fight menace of drug abuse and alcoholism in Yairipok

As part of the ongoing effort of Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) to curb the menace of drug abuse and alcoholism in the State, an awareness programme on substance abuse and the measures to stop its menace was jointly organized by Joint Committee on People's Welfare Yairipok (an apex body of BYCY, LYCY, BYFY & SEDO) in association with CADA and meira paibees of Yairipok Bamon Leikai and Bishnunaha at the conference hall of Yairipok Bamon Leikai Youth Club in Thoubal district yesterday at around 4 pm.
The programme was attended by president, Joint Committee on People's Welfare, Yairipok, Maibam Ibotombi Khuman as functional president.
Speaking at the occasion, Retd Assistant Commandant, AK Ibomcha said that numbers of young widow have been on the rise in Yairipok area due to drug abuse and alcoholism and appeal all to stay away from such dreaded substance which has the potential to cause unwanted pain and misery in the society.
He continued that a society cannot progress until and unless it wrests from the hold of drug abuse and alcoholism adding that each club, meira paibees and individuals have to play big role to wipe out the issue of drug menace and alcoholism from the State.
