Johnstone Hr Sec School students condemn teacher transfer, block BT road

Students of Johnstone Higher Secondary School carried out a protest by blocking the busy BT road in front of the school main entrance gate at around 2 pm today, condemning the transfer of a teacher from the school, midterm.
The agitating students were kept confined inside the school campus by a team of City PS but they outnumbered and overpowered the security personnel and came out from the campus thus taking their protest in the middle of the busy BT road.
Due to the protest, one side of the suffered a big traffic jam for around half an hour and as such police were forced to divert the traffic on different directions.
The students shouted various slogans condemning the transfer of teacher in midterm, demanding cancellation of the transfer order, demanding necessary teacher for the school and to save the career of the students etc.
The students were later brought under control after the arrival of police reinforcement who pushed them back inside the school campus again.
Speaking to media persons, Ksh Dijen, a student of the school stated that they strongly condemn the transfer of their English teacher during mid session.
As the school is already facing a lack of teachers, transferring of a teacher in such condition has adversely affected the students, he claimed adding that the students will continue to protest until the transfer order is cancelled.
He stressed that the authority has been neglecting the students even though several protest demonstrations have been staged.
Until the order is revoked, the school will be shut down by the students union from tomorrow, he cautioned.
