ATSUM ties up with Mewar University

Saying that many students from the State, particularly students belonging to the ST category often face the problems of enrolment in fake or dubious colleges and universities when they choose to study outside the State, All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) president Vareiyo Shatsang has conveyed that the students' organization has authenticated and tied up with a university from Rajasthan that will give special study package for students of North East States belonging to the ST and SC categories.
Addressing a press meet held today at ATSUM office located inside the campus of Adimjati High School, Chingmeirong, the ATSUM president informed that the student organization has tied up with Mewar University, Chittorgarh (Rajasthan) for enrolment of interested students from the State who belong to ST category.
He said that the initiative has been taken up in consideration of the students belonging to ST category and their innocent parents as a lot of students were often deceived by people running fake colleges outside the State.
The representatives of the students' organization had visited Mewar University three times in the past and authenticated the university besides sending/enrolling nearly 100 students in the previous two years.

GS Vohra who also attended the press meet asserted that the aim of the university is to "reach to the unreached" and it emphasizes on giving quality education to the "poor of the poorest" at affordable fee structure.
He went on to assert that the university imparts best teaching and training apart from conducting counselling, research and offering job placement to various reputed companies/agencies.
More than 300 courses are opened in the university and it offers special study package for students of North East with special focus given on uplifting the poor and drop out students in the insurgency hit North East States, he said adding he had served in armed forces, including in education sector/cell for more than 30 years in the past.
Maintaining that Mewar University is approved by the UGC, he stated that the university is situated in the vicinity of the scenic Aravali ranges and spread over sprawling 30 acres and can be easily approached by road and railway network.
