Coordination Committee charts out election related work of depts

Imphal, December 28 2011:
The State level Coordination Committee, which was formed in relation with the Assembly election, had its first meeting where all election related works of various government departments have been charted out, today.
The first meeting of the Coordination Committee was held at the conference hall of the Manipur Secretariat with Chief Secretary DS Poonia presiding over the meeting.
The meeting minutely discussed works related to the coming election in detail.
Officials of all the departments have also been directed to carry out the assigned task and place the reports before the Committee in the next meeting.
Since Election Observers will be visiting the state, the concern department has been informed to make necessary arrangements for conveyance.
The Home department is to take care of the security arrangements and the GAD will be responsible for arranging the lodgings for the Election Observers.
The Transport department will take over all the vehicles from all the departments since a whole lot of vehicles will be requiring as the election will be held in one go.
Extra vehicles will be requisitioned from private owners.
The rate for renting vehicles from private owners was also discussed at the meeting.
The meeting further decided that the rate for renting vehicles from private owners will be decided after a meeting has been convened with the CEO along with the Transport officials shortly.
A Transport Cell will also be established for keeping the requisitioned vehicles.
No vehicle will be used without the prior permission of the CEO.
The vehicles for the Para military forces which are to be deployed for the election will also be provided.
The BSNL officials who were present on the occasion were also directed to increase the efficiency of their telecommunication network so that the concern officials do not face any problem in exercising their work in the interiors of the state.
The Power Department was also been advised to provide adequate power to all the offices where election related works are carried out.
The progress report of all the departments will be brought out and discussed in the next meeting of the State level Coordination Committee.
The meeting was also attended by CEO, PC Lawmkunga, DGP Y Joykumar, Principal Secretary, PHED, Principal Secretary Works, Principal Secretary Power, Principal Secretary Education, Health Commissioner, GAD, Finance, Director Transport, Wireless, DIPR, Tourism, Fire Service, DEO, Imphal East, Imphal West, General Secreatry BSNL and the Joint CEO.
Top officials of the Army, AR and CRPF were also present on the occasion.
