BJP alleges assault by INC workers

Vice president of BJP Manipur State Unit, Prof S Tiken informed that a case would be filed against the incident relating to the attack at the residence of Leishangthem Kunjabati, president, BJP Mahila Morcha Thoubal located at Thoubal Leishangthem Khongmanung Mayai Leikai by some individuals suspected to be the workers of Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Dr Tiken was speaking at a press conference held at the residence of Kunjabati today.
The incident happened yesterday night around 7.30 pm in which around 30 people suspected to be supporters of Chief Minister O Ibobi led by Th Khomdol and Th Neiyeni approached the residence of Kunjabati and asked to clarify the discrepancies related to the allocation of New Thoubal Market vendors.
They also threatened other family members to set ablaze the house if Kunjabati was not brought out.
The agitators later attacked the house with stones and other objects and damaged some portion of front side and back door.
In connection with this, the vice president and general secretary of BJP State unit have visited the residence of Kunjabati and condemned the attacked.
Expressing the party's expectation for free and fair poll in the ensuing elections, Prof Tiken informed that a criminal case would be filed against the attackers at the earliest.
He maintained that a written report of the incident would also be sent to the party's National office and Election Commission of India for taking necessary actions.
He further informed that 20 individuals who were directly involved in the attacked were also identified.
The intending candidate of BJP for Thoubal Assembly Constituency, O Indira, also noted the incident as an unfortunate one.
She further blamed the police personnel for not taking any initiative against the attackers who violated CrPC 144 .
Leishangthem Kunjabati alleged that the violent attack was carried out to take political advantages in name of public interest.
She further claimed that a gold ring and necklace along with cash of Rs 1 lakh 30 thousand were also taken by the attackers.
