Kolkata, August 21:
Accusing the Centre of "inaction" in resolving the Manipur crisis, the Forward Bloc, supporting the ruling UPA coalition from outside, today demanded that it should immediately hold talks with the organizations leading the stir in the context of the demand for withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act.
Stating that the demands of the organizations should be considered sympathetically, the party said "the inaction of the UPA Government at the Centre has aggravated the situation in Manipur".
"Instead of adopting a wait and watch policy, the Government should intervene to find a way out through talks with the organizations," the veteran leader of Forward Bloc told PTI here.
He said when the Manipur Government decided to partially withdraw the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, the Centre remained non-committal on the future course of action in the troubled State.
Ghosh, the state secretary of Forward Bloc said if the Centre did not intervene in time, secessionist and terrorist elements would try to take advantage to turn the stir into an anti-Indian direction.
