The convocation of the 40th batch (session 2007-08) of Forest Guards of the Forest Department was held at its Forest Training School located at Langol Ching, Luwangshangbam today.
Principal Secretary of Forest and Environment, Govt of Manipur PC Lawnkunga, IAS; Principal Chief Conservator of Forest S Singsit, IFS and Chief Wild Life Warden AK Rana attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking as chief guest., PC Lawnkunga said trainees should not rest just because their training course has been completed.
Instead they should brace up and work in team for the welfare of the people as representatives of the specialised Department.
Along with the knowledge of the global climatic changes and its impact on human civilisation, we should work and face this challenge, he exhorted.
While presenting his report, Director of the Training Programme L Birahari Singh mentioned that the Forest Training School at Langol Ching, Luwangshangbam was established on January 3, 1977 with the main objective of imparting training on theory and practice of the elementary forestry to the Deputy Rangers, Foresters and Forest Guards of the State.
Out of the total 21 Forest Guards selected for the training of the 40th batch, after some of them dropped out due health problems and other reasons only 12 of them completed the training course successfully.
Till date, 529 Forest Guards have passed out from this school, the Director informed.
Over and above imparting education to the Forest Guards on various aspects of forestry,the training course encompasses physical training, games and endurance as well as field trips, Birahari said.
