Imphal, April 10:
Flatly rejecting the news report that N Sanaton Meetei (32) s/o Ibopishak Meetei of Thambalkhong and L Jiten alias Jiteshwar (34) s/o Julonmacha of Nongmeibung Ayangpalli apprehended by Imphal East police in connection with hijacking of goods carrier truck (MN05-3841) were activists of the PREPAK (Chinglemba group) as reported in some sections of the media, the proscribed outfit has denied any relation with the arrested duo.
A statement issued by the outfit's Department of Publicity and Propaganda Secretary Chinglemba Mangang while taking serious note of the attempt to present the outfit in the wrong light just to cover their misdeeds, warned all concerned to make an explicit clarification within 24 hours failing which actions will be initiated to punish them in a fitting manner.
The outfit never demanded nor collected money from the All Manipur Auto-Rickshaw Drivers' Association, Tata Sumo and vans operating along Imphal-Moreh route and passenger buses plying along Tidim road, clarified Chinglemba.
At a time when there is little job avenue, PREPAK never sought monetary assistance for the revolutionary movement from the people who are struggling for their livelihood, asserted the outfit while pledging that it will never make monetary demand from these people earning small incomes.
It further appealed to all concerned to inform the outfit in case any one is making monetary demand from these people in the name of the outfit.
The outfit further asserted that its earlier declaration to stop all fund collection activities with effect from October 9 this year remains unchanged.
