With an aim to chalk out policy programmes for development of existing facilities in Government schools from primary upto high school level and streamline its implementation Additional Director (Valley) of Department of Education (School) along with other Department personnel today went on an inspection tour of educational institutions under Zone-II today.
The inspection team managed to cover eight primary and high schools during the day-long programme today and the same would be persisted with in the days to come for other schools under the Zone.
On completion of inspecting the Zone-II schools, scrutiny of schools in other zones with the ambit of the Department would be covered.
Speaking to The Sangai Express during the inspection tour, the Additional Director Gita conveyed that with the Central Government focused on development of education and educational institutions in the current fiscal 2008-09, State authorities are equally committed for welfare of the student community for which the inspection programme is being undertaken to streamline implementation of school development programmes.
On any specification with regard to intention of the inspection, Gita said assessment of school buildings, boundary fencing, infrastructural requirements and sorting out teacher-pupil ratio would be the main emphasis.
Stating that Imphal Morning School in Porompat area had been closed to facilitate expeditious conversion JN Hospital into a State Medical College, the Additional Director (Valley) further confided that after consent of the State Government existing infrastructure of the Morning School would be allotted to infrastructure-starved Khurai Primary School.
Coming to the inspection tour, Gita mentioned that a detailed report would be submitted to the Govt inclusive of a proposal to rationalise primary school teachers within the Zone-II institutions.
While conceding that in some Govt schools teachers far outnumber students to the extent of 20 teachers and only five pupils, the official strongly desired that teachers duly comply with the forthcoming rationalisation exercise without loathing.
