UPF Manipur celebrates 15th Birthday

The 15th Foundation Day of United People's Front (UPF) Manipur was celebrated today at Manipur Press Club.
President of Rongmei Lu Phuam (AMN), Panti Golmei; UPF Manipur president BM Yaima Shah and President of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) attended the foundation celebration programme as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, secretary general of UPF Manipur, N Rupachandra said the front has been formed to fight for the right to life of the people.
Fifteen years since its formation, the right to life has remained elusive for the people.
He said the people of the State have to struggle more to achieve the goal.
Panti Golmei said that with the assistance of the people of the State the four rapists involved in the gang-rape of an U-morok trader have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
She also conveyed that it is the firm stand of the RLP that not a single piece of the State territory should be compromised in the ongoing fencing along Indo-Myanmar border.
President of UPF, BM Yaima Shah also stated that not a single patch of the State territory be compromised in the border fencing construction.
He also urged the authority concerned to halt the construction of the fencing until a settlement is reached between the two countries.
