Imphal, August 28 2013:
Terming the 'self-centeredness' prevailing among different communities settling in Manipur as very unfortunate, MLA Kikhonbou Newmai, Vice Chairman of Hill Area Committee HAC) has called for discouraging such type of attitude among the people.
Addressing a meeting of the Thangmeiband Tribal Development Committee at the residence of Jotin Waikhom, Secretary of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) at Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai here today, Kikhonbou observed that the feeling of love and oneness among the different communities in the State seems to have dwindled away of late and this is one of the reasons for various issues arising in the State.
As such, there is the need to bring back the lost love and oneness among the people for overall development of the State.
MPCC Secretary Jyotin Waikhom also said that it would be much better to work for the welfare of the people instead of indulging in dirty politics and misusing power.
Creating hatred and mistrust among the various communities should be stopped under all circumstances.
He went on to state that there are 13 villages in Thangmeiband settling by tribal people.
The problems being faced by these villages should be identified and developed them on par with others so that the lost love among the different communities could be revived.
The meeting was also attended by Soihem Haomei, Chairman of ADC, Tamenglong; Thambaljao Paomei, Vice Chairman of IMC; S Binarani, Councilor of IMC ward number 1 and ex-Minister Jangamlung Panmei as presidium members.
