Gaikhangam attends Janmashtami celebration

Like in other parts of the country, Janmashtami was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in the State today.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam joined thousands of people in celebrating the festival at ISKCON Manimandir.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Gaikhangam said that the day when Lord Krishna came into being in this mortal world was an auspicious occasion.
Saying that people all over the world are seemingly unable to lead a peaceful life, the Deputy Chief Minister said that anti-social elements are creating disturbances everywhere.
Gaikhangam also expressed concern over rise in adopting self-centric notions.
Observing that public chaos are increasing everywhere as people tend to distance themselves from religious and spiritual values, Gaikhangam noted that it is not a good sign to witness rise on the influence of jealousy.
Saying that everybody must understand and adopt the principles taught by their respective religions Gaikhangam urged the people of the State to choose the right path.
Bhaktivyasa Tirtha Swami of ISKCON also attended the celebration.
A discussion session on the topic, 'Need for spiritual education in the present day' was also held as part of the celebration.
