UPF celebrates 16th b'day

Imphal, August 28 2013:
United People's Front (UPF) celebrated its 16th foundation day at Manipur Press Club here today.
The foundation day was attended by President of Rongmei Lu Phuam (AMN) Panti Golmei as Chief Guest and President of United People's Front (UPF) BM Yaima Shah as President, while President of AMWJU Wangkhemcha Shyamjai attended as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Panti Golmei appealed to all communities to maintain peace and harmony in the State.
President of UPF Yaima Shah maintained that the State is now in a critical situation with rising cases of corruption and crimes.
More than 20 lakhs rupees is said to be given as bribe for selection of even a staff nurse or an ASI of Manipur Police.
The poor people are suffering to the most extreme amidst problems of drug abuse, unemployment and lawlessness, he added.
He further lamented the inability of the State Government to enforce the Inner Line Permit System in the State to check influx of non-locals despite resolutions taken by the Legislative Assembly.
The foundation day was also attended by President of UCM Y Mani Khuman and other leaders of social organizations.
