Imphal, August 28 2013:
National Secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI) and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Raja would raise the controversial issue of Indo-Myanmar border fencing as a special mention at the Rajya Sabha tomorrow, Secretary of CPI Manipur State Council Dr M Nara told media persons today.
He further condemned the statement given by the State's Principal Secretary (Home) Dr Suresh Babu, who is also the chairman of the high power committee set up by the State Government to look into the border issue.
Dr Raja would raise the issue at the Rajya Sabha as per the resolution taken by the national leaders during a meeting held on August 7 and 8 .
Dr Nara contended that the border fence cannot be simply put up from security point of view by spending crores of rupees.
The disputed international boundaries must be amicably settled first before taking up the border fencing, he enjoined.
It may be noted here that MP Dr Meinya had also raised the issue in the Parliament .
