Imphal, March 27 2015 :
The United Naga Council (UNC) has condemned MLA L Ibomcha and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam for their 'immature and ill motivated intent' to declare UNC as an unlawful organization and also for comparing the Naga body to a 'unbridled horse' on March 16 in the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The duo were flayed in UNC's first presidential council assembly for the tenure 2014-18, hosted by Chamdil Naga Peoples' Organization (CNPO), held at Chandel district headquarters on March 26 .
UNC president Gaidon Kamei hoisted the UNC flag and declared the 1st Assembly Session of the UNC for the tenure 2014-18 open.
UNC representatives urged the Government of India to expedite the Indo-Naga peace process and bring the issue to a logical conclusion at the earliest.
They also expressed their solid support to the collective leadership for bringing a lasting and honourable Indo-Naga political settlement based on the uniqueness of Naga history and its situation.
The UNC meeting also seriously deliberated and reaffirmed to strongly oppose 'ceaseless' land encroachment and development aggression including construction of mega dams like Mapithel dam, Tipaimuk multipurpose dam, Chakpi dam etc and other projects.
It also endorsed UNC executive's earlier decision to take up appropriate steps to protect and safeguard land and natural resources in Naga areas.
The UNC then reaffirmed to uphold the declaration of the 3rd Naga Peoples' Convention (NPC) held on July 1, 2010 at Tahamzam (Senapati) Hqrs in letter and spirit.
The house was adjourned sine die by S Kho John, Speaker, UNC.
