Imphal, August 14 2019:
Condemning the alleged attempt to turn Ningthoujam Babysana's death into a case of suicide by hanging, the JAC formed in connection with the incident has lamented that there has been no arrest or detention in connection with the mysterious death case even to this day.
A press release issued by the convenor in-charge of the JAC today claimed that the current investigation is focused on violation of rules and regulations concerning the school and hostel establishments, in an attempt to misguide the public.
Pointing out that it will not back off until and unless justice is delivered, the JAC appealed to the people to stage sit in protest from 10 am to 4 pm of August 17 followed by meira rallies all across the State in the evening of August 18 .
On the other hand, the JAC urged the Standard Robarth Hr Secondary School Student Welfare and Parents Guardian Association as well as the school authorities to think and withdraw their decision to open the school and continue normal classes from August 16 .
If the association and the school authority fail to do so, the JAC will assume that they have fallen into the trap laid by the Government to subdue the demands of the people to deliver justice and hand over the case to the CBI, it added.
The JAC continued that section 302 of IPC (murder) is not included in any way in the submission proposed to be handed over to the CBI and as such, the JAC does not believe that the case will be handed over to the CBI easily.
The JAC also strongly condemned the alleged denial by the jail authorities to let family members bring medication for some of the people who were arrested in connection with the various agitation concerning the case.
On the other hand, the All Thangmeiband Diesel Auto Owners' and Drivers' Welfare Union (ATDAOWU) has informed that it will launch a cease work strike from 5 am to 6 pm of August 17 condemning the failure to release the people who were arrested during the agitation demanding justice for Babysana.
It also appealed to all the passenger vehicles parked at Nagamapal to support the decision of the association.
