AR celebrates Pre-Independence Day

Nurturing the spirit of patriotism in growing minds is one of the surest ways of reinforcing and consolidating national integration.
With this backdrop, Pre-Independence Day celebrations was celebrated with a range of activities at various locations in Manipur under command HQ IGAR (South) today, said AR.
Keithelmanbi Bn organised a 'Know Your Armed Forces Mela' at Keithelmanbi garrison for the NCC cadets and the students and teachers of Assam Rifles Public School.
Various competitions - singing, drawing and painting as well as cultural programmes were also organised for children at TAM Mission School, Unified Brother High School in Andro, GT Memorial School in Lilong, Premier English Academy, Temple of Learning, Nirmala Bas High School and Don Bosco High School in Canchipur, said a statement of AR.
Mantripukhri Bn organised an awareness programme on 'Benefits of Sports, Healthy Lifestyle and Awareness of Armed Forces' for the students of various schools who reside at Carmel Jyoti Children Home.
The students were also enlightened regarding various career opportunities available in different fields like medical, teaching, law, engineering, banking sector, civil services, Armed Forces and CAPFs.
Over 300 saplings were also planted, added AR.
Tulihal Bn organised a security meet at Yurembam village.
Celebrating the day, the bn also conducted a drawing and painting competition for the students of Utlou High School and a basketball match for the students of Sainik Sainik Imphal.
Shangshak Bn conducted 'Know Your Army Mela' at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
The unit also distributed sports items to the youth organization of Ringui.
Stationery items were provided to the Government school of TM Kasom village under the theme "Learn with Happiness".
Somsai Bn organized interacted with ex-serviceman wherein DC and SP Ukhrul along with other civil officials joined ex-servicemen for lunch at Ukhrul post of Assam Rifles.
Chassad Bn organized medical camp under the 'We Care' initiative at Kamjong.
A total of 159 patients where provided free consultation and medication during
the camp, said AR.
