Kanggui, March 12 2014 :
All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) today convened an emergency meeting on March 15 at its administrative office at Tribal Market, New Lambulane, Imphal.
The meeting has been called to discuss the outcome of the talk between the students' body and the State Govt regarding Class X syllabus and Police boundary, said Maharang, secretary ATSUM.
The ATSUM urged heads of private schools and village chiefs/chairmen of all hill districts of Manipur to attend the meeting.
"The state Government has always been playing a spoil sport in tribal related issues till now", asserted Maharang adding that Govt promises and assurances always end without actual translation.
Therefore, it is high time for the tribal people to stand unite for their own cause, added Maharang.
The emergency meeting is a sensitive one therefore it will be wise on the part of all concerned to attend the meeting without fail, said the body.
In the meantime, ATSUM president Emboi Serto cautioned the State Govt not to regularise adhoc teachers in the state without following the rules of ST quota.
ATSUM had already asked the State Govt.to regularize adhoc teachers only if ST quota is to be implemented accordingly, asserted Emboi Serto before warning that if anything happens in defiance of the body the Govt would be held responsible.
